Maine’s Janet Mills is willing to let Susan Collins win if she can’t be the failed Senate nominee. She thinks there shall be no consequences. Her Policy Guru, Hannah Pingree is running for Governor, and there shall be consequences if she gives those of us progressives permission to play in the general election. We are very willing to play and establishment Democrats better get this, and get it quick.
Bangor Sen. Baldacci can sing Democratic family Kumbaya all he wants. Not all Democrats are the same. Baldacci got the nod from the national Democratic establishment. He may think that is an advantage.
The money he gets from the national establishment, should he be the nominee, the same establishment who voted to keep relations with AIPAC genocide money, may very well cost him more in the general election than the money he receives from the corrupt national Democratic system. Should he be the nominee, he shall NOT be inheriting a happy Democratic family – the part of the family who actually vote in elections, rather than the AIPAC funded board rooms of the National Committee.
If he were to endorse Hannah Pingree, Mills’ policy guru who was by the Governor’s side when she pardoned a man of sexual assault, and may very well have contributed to writing the racist policies against the Natives who live in Maine’s borders, that may very well be enough to cause his defeat in the deep red Maine CD2 swing district.
Endorsement of Hannah Pingree and those policies shall be wrapped around his neck in the general election.
The Baldaccies are partying about this establishment endorsement? Not so fast.
Baldacci is going to need to walk a tight rope. The nomination of Hanna Pingree shall be a drag on the whole Maine Democratic ticket.
Democrats need to protect the Democratic brand to take the White House in 2028. There is a very valid case to defeat candidates who are destructive of the Democratic brand.
We can start with Hannah Pingree. Let’s hope her cancer doesn’t metastasize into all down ballot candidates.
There is plenty of money for Progressives to make that case with a megaphone in the general election. And no where shall that be more costly than in ME CD2.
Baldacci should see to it that Hannah Pingree is defeated in the primary. The success of his congressional campaign may very well depend on it.
And some of us progressives can think of a better candidate to run against LePage in 2028.
Go ahead. Endorse Hannah Pingree if you are the nominee – ANY NOMINEE – in ME CD2.
Double dare!!
